Hard Hits

That’s right! Hard Hits has now become an icon thanks to brand new producer John “JPG” Giagnorio who booked a record eight identical themed shows for the rest of July including three back-to-backs for the unpredictable cast of the Chatroom Brigade.

Get more of our total randomness as we go from topic to topic with no boundaries. Listen as myself along with co-hosts Rob “Kraze” Davis, Jeff Bashlor, Nate Sousa, Brian “Sambone” Sanborn, personality Justin “NYYN” Felix and newcomers Greg “GQ” Quarello and Chris Wassell take being off the wall to a totally new outrageous level.

Last night covered a range of topics from the much anticipated debut of GQ to a visit from expert Devil blogger Wassell. There were tributes as well as your host eulogized the end of Sean Avery’s Ranger career which touched our Devil contingent including one Martin Brodeur. It also included a discussion and analysis of Dan da Man.

Plus special appearances from the crazy tandem of the “Mayo Man” and sidekick “Icecream Man” putting the true definition of insane to a whole new meaning.

Derek, Chris and Greg also breakdown Wimbledon. Can Roger Federer six-peat or will Rafael Nadal or someone unexpected spoil history at the All England Club? And will the Williams sisters meet again for the trophy?

Catch the complete chaos from a historic July 3rd two and a half hour show down below:

We return once again to the airwaves where a range of topics shall be covered between all our organized chaos. ;-)

Hard Hits will cover the Subway Series as well as more baseball. Plus an NBA Draft review complete with grades. Who will grade best and who will flunk out? Plus I set up the second exciting week of Wimbledon. Can Roger Federer make history by winning No.6 in a row? Or can Rafael Nadal or someone else get in the way? Will either Williams sister rule the women’s draw? Plus a look at the upcoming NHL free agency with the Lightning signing their newest acquistion Ryan Malone to a long-term deal. What do we think?

Find out!

What exactly is the Chatroom Brigade? Well, it was something that got started some seven years ago originating thanks to my brother Justin “NYYN” Felix. He along with original member Corey “Whip” Jones began this crusade recruiting future members John “JPG” Giagnorio, Robert “Kraze” Davis and Nate “Nas” Sousa. Colin “War” Cannaday would become part of this group as would Mike “Metallica” Rosen and Greg “GQ” Quarello.

As for myself, I wouldn’t officially get introduced until the middle of 2002 when I worked at ESPN in Bristol. Much of this was discussed on our show last night- the first one in a month. To all the listeners who archived our prior show, I want to say thank you for checking us out. It’s extremely nice to know people listen.

The most startling aspect going to edit the details on what else was covered for last nite’s show was that already we had over 20 archives without even promoting it. This was a random show put together last minute due to missing out on KrazeMart.

Included in the discussion was the tales of the mysterious unpredictable Eugine. You have to tune in to understand it.

Also covered was a dark secret from my past involving the most talented kid I knew Adam Padilla. How gifted is he? An artist extraordinaire who’s done it all.

We also talked some NBA Finals with the Lakers defeating the Celtics to get back in their series. Plus a little baseball talk and Big Brown by yours truly at the beginning.

Here’s the show archive:

Tonight, the boys return as plenty shall be discussed including the Knicks’ hire of Mike D’Antoni. Is this another typical move by the Team Dumb and Dumber Clown Mgt 101 or can it actually work? Plus conference semi analysis on Lakers-Jazz and Hornets-Spurs. The NHL are down to four. So, who will come out on top? Are the Pens and Wings destined to meet or can the Flyers or Stars comeback and spoil the party? Derek has analysis. Plus the all important May baseball.

Last night, it was myself hosting a special Hard Hits edition joined by my usual cast of entertaining characters Rob “Kraze” Davis, Jeff Bashlor, John “JPG” Giagnorio, Brian “Sambone” Sanborn and Dan “Da Man” Wheeler.

Much was covered including the Devils’ big overtime Game Three win over the Rangers courtesy of John Madden. In particular, Ranger pest Sean Avery’s antics were discussed at length about the odd stuff going on in front of Marty Brodeur. What did I think as well as my co-hosts conclude? Were we actually on the same page unlike other topics which seem to pit the Avery of the show JPG against yours truly?

All this plus Mr. Giagnorio’s overwhelming support of the latest freshman to enter the NBA Draft in Michael Beasley. Kraze and Sambone also introduce their own Avery aerobics tapes for future reference. Derek stirs the pot as usual.

Jeff, Brian, Rob, Dan and John all take part in a mock NFL Draft. Who’s on their top five lists? Derek’s mind drifts to nowhere before tossing in the usual rejects from NFL past to contribute as minimal as possible.

Derek talks a little about the Santana MSG concert from last week and the discussion extends to what’s happened to Michelle Branch.

All this and more on another fun filled episode.

It’s no holds barred as Hard Hits returns to the airwaves with co-hosts John “JPG” Giagnorio, Brian Sanborn, Rob “Kraze” Davis plus possibly Nate Sousa and Jeff Bashlor making cameos.

So, what shall be covered? The better question is what won’t.

Since there are a few minutes before the show, some quick hits:

-Another great performance by Chris Paul who went for 25 points and 16 assists in an 11-point home win over the slumping Nets. Somehow, despite dropping their fourth in succession, the 10 under Nets are still in playoff position. What a disgrace!

-The Knicks lost a close one to the Pistons to fall 26 games under (18-44). With the Celtics dismantling the Bulls (talk about mailing it in), Lord Isiah’s Dumb and Dumber Clown Management program is now a cool 31 behind Boston. Ya just can’t make it up.

-Tom Coughlin and the Giants finally reached agreement on a new four-year contract worth a reported $21 million. Well deserved for the Super Bowl winning coach. Remember several months ago when the Giants had given up a franchise record 80 the first two weeks and trailed the Skins by 17 at halftime in Week Three with Coughlin looking close to done? Amazing how things can change!

-Another Met just went on the DL.

-Is it too early to be concerned about Chien-Ming Wang? He couldn’t even make it out of the first inning getting lit up the other day.

-Martin Brodeur won’t have nearly as many shutouts as the other candidates but he deserves a fourth Vezina.

Tonight, we review the NFL Divisional Round and breakdown all the games as we discuss who advanced to championship weekend. Why did the Giants upset the Cowboys? Can they win a third straight on the road against Brett Favre and the Packers at Lambeau? Do the Chargers have any chance of stopping the undefeated Patriots next Sunday? Plus who’s the bigger cry baby? Jerry Jones or T-HO. The answers to all these questions and more between 11 ET and 1 later tonight.

Does Giant QB Eli Manning have what it takes along with his Giant teammates to win at Tampa Bay Sunday? Find out this and more on our first edition of Hard Hits in 2008!

Tonight was our official first show of 2008. Even though our usual co-hosts weren’t around to debate an assortment of topics, it went reasonably well.

Here was what was covered:

1.A preview of this weekend’s NFL first round match-ups with Hard Hitting analysis and predictions for each game. Plus extended breakdown of Giants-Bucs. What needs to happen for Big Blue to come out of Tampa with their first playoff win under Tom Coughlin?

2.The Knicks’ latest loss at defending champion San Antonio. Does anyone really care about the NBA’s laughingstock?!?!?!?!?!?! What about Lord Isiah’s “legacy?”

3.The Nets’ recent turnaround continued. How great is J Kidd?

4.More on the Mets’ very disappointing offseason as the D-Backs stacked up getting ace Dan Haren from Oakland to team up with 2006 Cy Young winner Brandon Webb.

5.Martin Brodeur and the Devils continue to win hockey games despite being written off by naysayers. How special is the three-time Stanley Cup champion? This while the “new and improved” Rangers continue to make fans scratch their heads.

6.Derek reviews the very successful NHL Outdoor Winter Classic played on New Year’s Day at Ralph Wilson Stadium. How special was it as Sidney Crosby electrified 71,000 plus with a signature moment. We’re briefly joined by John Giagnorio and then good buddy

7.Brian Sanborn calls in to give his review. Are any puck fans criticizing this special game? Sadly, a few did for silly reasons. Would a game like this work in NYC at say Giants Stadium? Should the league make this an annual hockey tradition every Jan.1? Find out what we think!

All this plus I unveil co-hosts Rob Davis, JPG, Jeff Bashlor and Nate Sousa’s predictions for this weekend’s big games.
